Local Productive Arrangements to Strengthen the Hostel Movement

Promoting the Hostel Movement

Following the success of their recent video marketing campaigns, Hostelworld have produced another video to promote the concept of hostels to the general public. http://hostelmanagement.com/forums/hostelworld-s-marketing-strategy-attr...
Previous videos have included a group of international skinny dippers jumping into a Mexican cenote, backpackers calling their families on Skype while jumping out of an airplane, and a hostel visit by eccentric former boxing champion Chris Eubank.
This time they have brought in rapper 50 Cent to show off a Barcelona hostel in MTV Cribs style.
From the Hostelworld Properties Team announcement:
Hello all,
We’re excited to share with you our latest campaign ‘In da hostel with 50 cent’ which has just gone live across the globe. This is the first time we have a true global superstar, rapper 50 cent staying in a hostel in Barcelona—experiencing ‘all the bling without the sting’.
The film is in the style of a mock MTV cribs episode, showing off today’s modern hostel experience—50 cent starred in the most famous and widely viewed episode of MTV cribs, so naturally, he was the right guy to be the star of hostel cribs! The objective of this video is not only to raise awareness of hostels and Hostelworld, but also to bust negative perceptions of hostels that linger including privacy, security and cleanliness. The Cribs format allows us to tackle these in a funny way, whilst also showing off the social heart of hostels.
The campaign sits on a bespoke landing page on the blog, surrounded by perception busting hostel images and articles—and with an all-important ‘Book the bling’ button to drive education of the hostel product and bookings.
We look forward to sharing the impact of this campaign with you.
Best,
Paul
