Great new feature. Reviews are a must have. I think booking.com does a really good job. Positive and negative things for each hotel. And nice category's like a young couple or a group.
Hostelworld Reviews - new "Trust Rating" and sorting features

Hostelworld.com now has a a Trust Rating for each user based on how many reviews they've written:
There's also the option to sort hostel reviews by ratings, date, age group, nationality, and gender:
EDIT: I've only seen this feature on Hostelworld -- it doesn't appear on other WRI sites like Hostel.com or Boo.com.

I think the review is good for Hostelworld's business too because Web surfers like to acquire "points". Few people want the label "Novice Traveller" next to their names. You have to make 10 bookings through Hostelworld.com before you are no longer publicly called a "Novice Traveler"...
I like those reviewer categories you mentioned from Booking.com.
