Hotel Bonanza – New OTA with only 8% commission

Hotel Bonanza, a new OTA that has recently launched, is recruiting accommodation partners.  Have you listed your hostel yet?

The site was started by hoteliers Suzie Barber and Bhavin Swaly, who were feeling the impacts of high OTA commissions on their own business and wanted to create an alternative that would benefit the properties and the travelers without taking advantage of either group.  

Since their launch about three weeks ago they have already signed up over 500 properties, running the accommodation gamut from 5-star hotels to campsites. They are hoping to sign up a lot more properties in Europe before the official launch this autumn.

In order to appeal to Accommodation providers, the commission is fixed at only 8% which the founders promise will never go up.  This means that properties will keep more money from each booking, compared to other OTAs charging 12-15% or more.  The payment will be collected from the guest by the hostel itself, and Hotel Bonanza will issue an invoice for the commission.

In order to appeal to travelers and build loyalty, Hotel Bonanza will offer them the option to buy a membership for 10£.  As members they will receive a 5% discount on all bookings they make through the site.  This discount will come from Hotel Bonanza’s commission, not from the property.  So the commission they collect would only be 3% of the total price for those bookings.

Hotel Bonanza is or will be connected to a number of channel managers so that updating rates and inventory will not create any additional work for any property. They are collecting data on their signup page regarding which channel managers are the most frequently used by the properties interested in working with them.

They do ask for rate parity with “other online websites and platforms.”

They do require permission to use your hostel’s name for their own keyword marketing.
