Just had a booking from our fine friends in Ireland HostelBookers and the same rep who was with the the Hostel World group is now my representative under hostelbookers! Have to love that!

Where do I start.... the rates have gone up, we all know this, but I recently had a booking at 15% from Hostelbookers plus... 2.99 affiliate fee. That was the last straw. I asked Hostelbookers about it and asked them where it says in the contract Hostelbookers can keep charging more and more with out my agreement.... nothing in response....

I have cancelled my account and I dare you to cancel yours too. There are way too many other types of booking engines available to us

The ball is in your court, cancel your account.

On another note, a good wifi password is "hostelworld sucks"

Hi Nick,

Three of the top rated hostels in San Francisco refused to sign the contract in January and were subsequently delisted. At first we were all worried that we would see a drop in our business. However, the drop never came. Turns out when travelers were unable to find any good hostels they liked on Hostelworld they searched harder and found our hostels anyway. In short, business is good....very good in fact. In addition, the quality of travelers has improved as well in that they know more about our hostel before booking.

Now I think we are all very happy to be free of Hostelworld and Hostelbookers.

In my opinion, Web Reservations International turned it's back on the Hostel Industry when it started listing hotels. More and more, I'm hearing from hostels that are leaving or have left Hostelworld/Hostelbookers and are doing fine.

Great to hear from you and super news that you have the energy to just quit their services! I should have know you would have done this long before me.

Now all we need is some glue or software to connect us all together!

Instead of taking money from us like Hostelworld, hostelbookers do.. Open Travel Exchange give money to the hostels for recommend other friends hostels.

Even they offer a booking engine for your own website without any commision!!

Hi Darren, I applaud you for the courageous stand as I'm sure it was a risk not knowing what would happen. I'm also impressed that business has maintained strong. Tell me a bit more about your other competitors and demand. Do the HI hostels in your town still have accounts? I would say it's hard to generalize that it won't hurt your business as many hostel are not integrated with a website to book direct. USA Hostels is still using them...can we get them on board to delete their accounts. I have a meeting with Ryan in Frisco and I'd like to talk with him about this. The direction is not a dare to delete, but a dare to take a stand in amnesty together. How many hostels can we join in to remove their WRI accounts together in a single day to create a ripple effect that will undoubtedly be felt by WRI?
