I cannot help myself when I use one of them....
The truth is, I do not think it is appropiate.
Communication is changing but I wouldn´t say that it is "Evolving".
Right now, I can see my kids writting with lots of mistakes...like "Kiero" instead of "quiero" (verb to want) and this all is deforming literature, basically beacause this kids are just writing whatever the sound of a letter tells them, not correctly. I´m a writter so I´m annoyed!!!!!!!!:pLOL

Interesting to see that this problem affects other languages besides English, I thought it was because of English's chaotic spelling 'system'.
I've always believed that, without any wish to 'deform literature', we should simplify English, for the benefit of all of you who have to learn it as a world language, as well as for our own children who also have to learn it, albeit more leisurely. Namely, make certain spellings optional (eg thru for through, thurra for thorough) until they become accepted. Every bit helps. Those languages with masculine, feminine and neuter should combine the genders; Danish and French have partially done it naturally, and English has done it almost totally, by natural evolution. In English, American 'dove' has evolved to British 'dived'. And get rid of the apostrophe, because so many people use it wrong that its lost its value!

Maybe I´m old-fashioned or something,hahaa; But I really detest these changes that are given "pragmatically" and the theory just stays attached to the past.
I see this happening in Spanish and it´s such a pity!
Regarding English, well it has always been a mutating language.
From Old British to nowadays rap synthaxis...well you know...
We have diferenced good synthaxis from Slang...so in written pieces everybody knows how to procede...and slang, well, anyone can do whatever they please! Still this "Kiero" that I see in kids...pisses me off! (Pardon my french!)
