Inveraray Youth Hostel for Sale (Scotland)

Do the HI organizations in the UK tell their local members when they put a hostel up for sale? Is there any way to look up profit/loss for individual hostels?

It could be that SYHA are hoping someone will take it off their hands, and continue to run it as an affiliate hostel? That's where my money lies. Releases Capital for other projects and passes another hostel to the private sector, yet still bringing an income to SYHA.

I have just bought Inveraray Hostel--subject to a few legal matters. The expected entry date is in early September. I will be taking it over as a going concern, which will involve a fair bit of careful juggling to make sure no bookings are lost through the net. I have not had any direct contact with SYHA yet, only through solicitors, but there will be quite a few fiddly matters to sort out. The hostel closes for winter from about October 6, but is available for Rentahostel during the closed time, and I will continue that pattern. So I may be looking for a manager or temporary help through this forum -- which as you see from the first two posts, is where I first heard about the sale! The SYHA gave the sale no publicity at all, and they rushed into a closing date remarkably quickly. I have heard some rumours about reasons for this.
