Here we go again. SYHA continuing with their charitable mission -- to sell hostels :(
I have stayed there. It's among some excellent scenery and is a good stepping-stone to the northwest highlands and islands. It so happens I am going on a trip to west Scotland on 6th, maybe I might even stop the night there, it's about the right distance. (I am aiming at the Western Isles, from which I have booked a day trip to St Kilda. (No, not the Melbourne one!)
When Kirk Yetholm was for sale I followed it with great interest. That was bought by a hostel enthusiast and is being run by him under the umbrella of a charity, Friends of Nature, an organisation which is strong in Austria and Germany with aims a bit like that of YHAs, although it does not actually own hostels, but lists them as worthwhile places to stay.
Thanks for mentioning it -- interesting that I should hear about this through you rather than through any contact in this country.
