ITB Berlin is a B2B (Business to Business) trade show where hostel operators can make connections with various companies that provide services to the travel industry. There are over 10,000 exhibitors and 110,000 visitors from around the world each year.
I have never attended ITB Berlin, but I understand that some members of the HM community have gone in the past. Perhaps someone could let us know if the event is worth the trip for a hostel operator. If anyone would like to share their thoughts or experiences that would be great!

I was there two years ago. I was specifically looking for PSM system and spent a lot of time with these exhibitors. The event is HUGE and you really need a daily plan to get the best out of it. Im thinking of going again, but if you dont have specific needs, its propably waste of time - for me it wasnt so good for networking but more for learning.

Hi guys!
I am seriously pondering to come to Berlin but, even though I am running an hotel, the main reason of my visit would be to attend some seminars about hostel management or some "hostel people" meeting.
I read on ITB Berlin website that there should be a section for low-cost travellers: do you think it is worth it to invest time and money for this fair? (Btw, I am from Italy :) ).

The guys from Staywyse have a stand at ITB in Berlin again this year on the WYSE Travel Confederation stand. There are a few hostel operators joining the stand (Hans Brinker, Clink Hostels, Smart City Edinburgh, Celtic Group Hostels) and also our UK BDM, Alex Wigmore, will be there with all things GuestCentrix for Hostels.
Certainly ITB is massive, and you really need to plan ahead of what you want to see there, and where they are located. We have found the large hall of technology providers rather overwhelming for most hostel operators (and most tech companies still don;t deal with hostels terribly well).
We have found the stand at ITB with WYSE Travel to be an invaluable port of call for the budget travel and hostel operators.
If anyone is heading to Berlin, please go see Alex - he will be there showcasing our brand new cloud PMS, GuestCentrix Hostel.Web, along with our brand new online commission free (did I say commission free?) booking engine to ensure your guests have place to make a booking at your hostel without incurring costs of the OTA's.
It is worth a trip if you are on the look out for anything new or new ideas.

STAY WYSE certainly will be on the WYSE Travel Confederation Stand at ITB again this year. Together we will be presenting a number of workshops and seminars relating to the youth travel industry, including a number that are directed at youth accommodation providers;
