Booking.com has recently implemented a new feature. Guests can book your hostel at the last minute without a credit card to guarantee the reservation. Your hostel has automatically been opted IN for this program.
Below is the text from Booking explaining their new services.
Dear partner,
Thank you for using our “Last-minute bookings without credit card details” feature! Currently, as long as you have 3 or more rooms available, this option allows our mutual guests to book and check-in on the same day (after 16:00) without providing credit cards details.
In order to stay up to date with global travel trends, we are automatically signing you up for another new feature:
“Next-day Bookings: I don’t need credit card details for guests arriving the next day when I have the following minimum availability of rooms: 5”.
You can go to the “My settings” section of the Extranet to check what your current preferences are for these features. The options are even more flexible when it comes to last-minute bookings without credit card details. You can easily opt in and out of any of the current features, as well as adjust the minimum number of rooms for each option.

To opt out of these programs from the Booking extranet go to Property Info --> My Settings, and then uncheck the programs in which you do not want to participate.
Apparently Booking enrolled us all in these programs at the end of June, but I was unaware. In the last two days I have had six no-shows from Booking guests who reserved at the last minute without a credit card.
Has anyone else had similar problems with this program? Conversely, is anyone finding it beneficial?
