Leasing a hostel in Indonesia/Bali
Hi all,
firstly let me introduce myself.
My name is Jens, 31 years old and currently working/living in Brussels, Belgium. Me and my girlfriend have had a long thought on what to do with our lives ( like most of us have once we reach the 30-years mark) and after some year of travelling SE-Asia, we have decided to give it a go and live for an undecided amount of time abroad, preferably in Indonesia ( We both are in love with the nature, people and it's culture). Our idea would be to start leasing a hostel for 1 year and see where it goes after. We have a personal friend of ours wo would love to do the same thing, so our budget would increase. We're not thinking of making a profit, break even would suffice. So even if we would only be able to live without turning the hostel into a profitable one, we would be satisfied as the experience alone would be incredible to us.
We would invest in ourselves and learn bahasa Indonesia, to help us integrate in to the country.
When travelling on one of our visits to the country, we came across a helpful foreign hostel owner, who gave us some insight on things were done regarding setting up a hostel as foreigner. Namely on how you would need an indonesian person (this point should be covered, cause a personal Indonesian friend of mine would be interested) to become the sole proprietary owner on paper while you do the managing and some amount of funding.
After some searching we found some decent looking hostels to rent at starting around ± 15.000€:
I would also love to hear some other stories or tips on what to look out for and so...
Thank you for reading my story and my apologies if the english seems somewhat off ( Not my primary language :) )
Regards,
Jens
