Great question! Here are some things that I generally consider. Hopefully others will have more suggestions.
It sounds obvious, but make sure your city and country feature prominently on the poster so people know where to find you. It’s shocking how often this is forgotten. A map is never a bad idea.
Fill the poster with photos that show everything you offer instead of words. (Make sure there are people in the photos, because no one wants to stay in an empty hostel)
IF you list prices, it’s probably a good idea to say “starting from $$$” in case your rates fluctuate later.
List your most important info in a bullet point format that is short and sweet. Some things that might be included are:
- Rooms types – ex. Shared dorms and private rooms available
- Other facilities – ex. Guest kitchen, common room, outdoor terrace, swimming pool, game room, library
- Free stuff – ex. Internet, breakfast, sheets and towels, maps, welcome drink
- Activities you organize – ex. Walking tours, event nights, theme parties
Give complete contact info – complete address / phone number / email address / website
