Hiya guys, hope everyone is good and well.

I'm looking at opening a hostel in the north of England in the next 6 months. It's time to get on the streets soon and bust some moves. I'm going to be finding out what your typical person looks for in a hostel/budget accommodation and I want to know what they want to know. My market is going to be students, travellers, clubbers, people coming for gigs and sporting events.

What questions should I be asking? Any help would be appreciated.

I'm going to be finding out what your typical person looks for in a hostel/budget accommodation and I want to know what they want to know. My market is going to be students, travellers, clubbers, people coming for gigs and sporting events.

Character, Atmosphere, or Personality
Maintenance
Cleanliness
Security
Safety
Location
Facilities
Staff
Fun
Value

Hiya Timmy. It's most definitely going to be in Manchester which could also do with a kick up the backside. I'll keep you updated :)

It's always good to see more hostels in the big northern English cities. Manchester, Liverpool, Chester, Hull, Harrogate, Leeds, York, Sheffield and Newcastle can all do with more hostels.

Yeah, tell me about it. I think my big struggle with Manchester is going to be finance and finding the right place. There is SO much office space it's untrue but hardly any hotelier space or existings commercail buildings willing to change the use of the building. The fight goes on!

That's why it's so much easier to open a hostel in London. Although real estate is more expensive, there are lots of old hotels that can easily be converted to hostels.
