Sorry about the recent spam attack in the forum. I keep trying to stop it, but they occasionally get through.
The spammer registers in the forums and then wait a few days -- then they spam mobile phone advertisements all over the forum. It takes me about 30 to 60 minutes to clean up each time because I have to go into the database and manually delete the items in several places.
Would anyone really buy a mobile phone from a forum spammer? :confused:

Do genuine correspondents ever register then wait a few days before posting? If I go to a new site, I don't register until I want to post.
There could be a case for removing anyone who has registered for, say, 3 days and not posted, particularly if they gave no additional profile info.

More often than not, some sub-forums can only be viewed when you are registered - so it makes sense ti register even if you only want to lurk.

Surprisingly, they often wait a while. I think it's because the email confirmation requirement. Sometimes genuine users don't even confirm their email address and just permanently leave their accounts in "pending confirmation" status. :confused:

I just caught that mobile phone spammer with a new email account and new IP address. Banned them before they finished registering.
Spammer's details:

IP: 216.139.164.86 (probably Ibadan, Nigeria)
A quick search shows that other email scams come from this IP address... You know the emails that start something like, "Dear Friend, I am Barrister Koku Kwesi, I am personal Attorney to late Mr.Aamil Shahid,a national of your country, who used to work with Ashanti Gold Development Company in Ghana..." -- and end up with them offering you 80% of the $500,000,000 that they found in a treasure chest if you will just give them your bank account details :D
