Musical Instruments?

The more hostels I visit, the more I think musical instruments are a great thing to have at a hostel -- even at large hostels.

I recently went to a hostel with over 200 beds, and a group of drunk backpackers came into the lobby in with a guitar. They started passing the guitar around and signing songs. They were having a great time.

I think I would put 2 or 3 guitars in any hostel, and keep them in a place where backpackers could just pick them up and play them. You can get cheap, playable guitars in the US for about $150 each. I think it's worth it. It would be an interesting experiment to see if "fun" ratings go up.

EDIT: forget about "fun ratings" -- the guests will have more fun if you add guitars despite what the ratings are.
