I've glanced through the above reference. This all seems a bit trivial. Yes, it's important for candidates to know their stuff, but surely there are many things more important, like fundamental beliefs on pacificm, tax policy, gun control, and economic policies etc, than on knowing precisely, off-the-cuff, what someone said in a letter half a century ago, or precise numbers.
We had a case of the latter, where the LIberal Democrat leader made a mistake in quoting the amount of the State pension, and this mistake was quoted against him as many times as all the other quotes put together.
