Promotion for Australian hostels
Hi all, Patrick here from Footprints we are looking to promote Australian hostels but there is a catch...
The hostels we are looking for are the ones that are independent and have the experience of backpackers staying with them their No1 priority. I can say that from spending quite some time staying at many Aussie hostels this is not the most common thing.
We are looking for the hostels where the majority of backpackers say awesome things, where manufactured fun is kept to a minimum and staff are genuinely helpful and interested.
We will be putting together dedicated pages for hostels that Footprints recommends, and will also have the user review / comment function and we will be researching each and every submission to make sure your hostel is as good as you say it is.
If your Aussie hostel would benefit from extra promotion I would love to hear from you, best of all it's free.....
We are interested in international hostels as well, although we will not be actively promoting hostels outside of Australia for about 6 months.

We are looking for what makes you different from the large heartless hostel chain machines
Why your backpackers experience is your main priority
A page of information about your hostel (not copied and pasted from your HW or HB page)
Some fresh awesome images
If you have experienced business problems due to a large chain hostel near you, or a single large hotel style hostel we would love to hear about that as well.
We are very experienced in the backpacking market, and you can be sure that Footprints recommends will become a powerful booking tool for your hostel.

Hi Footprints
As one of those 'heartless' chains operating here in Australia, can I just ask - who are you?

I think it is a shame that you would refer to YHA as a heartless chain or put yourself in the same boat as an x-base or similar style.
Who are we? Footprints was started in 2005 in Australia quickly finding its feet in the backpacking market. Unfortunately we hit some bumps that can be read about in our about us page.
We are now back and in the middle of re-launching our sites, starting with Australia again and building readership while the more technical development is taking place that can be rolled out to our country specific sites.
Our aim is to market the more personal tour and hostel operators around the world, that are experiencing difficulties with combating the marketing engines of the large tour companies and hotel backed hostels. Furthermore they often give a far better experience to the backpacker and in most cases for a lower cost.
We are agents for a large selection of operators and will be using ResPax in combination to custom booking functionality's we will also be launching other money saving resources for the backpacker market, that we will keep to ourselves for now.
We will be starting a 12 month tour of Australia in around 8 to 10 months promoting tour operators, showcasing destinations that are often missed by the backpacker and generally making a bit of noise.
We are then heading to NZ to do the same thing, followed by a similar concept overseas, which will become our base.
We are a group of avid travellers, that have spent considerable years travelling, managing hostels, and working within other jobs associated with the travel industry.

Emmm, actually you used the phrase heartless in reference to large hostel chains in Australia. As the largest chain, it was a fair presumption that you might have been referring to us!
Thanks for the info and I did find your website.

Fair comment, I could call some YHA'a a little boring or puritanical at times, but defiantly would not tar you with the same brush.
