New Queensland backpackers guide to be distributed in hostels:

A NEW Queensland backpackers guide designed to lure more tourists to the region has been launched on the Gold Coast by Tourism Minister Peter Lawlor.

The 64-page guide features images and content aimed at the youth, student and adventure markets and includes maps, what to do options and tips for finding work.

Speaking at the launch at Aquarius Hostel in Southport, Mr Lawlor said: ''We hope it will become an essential that every backpacker travelling in Queensland will have in their backpocket.

The pocketbook, 60,000 of which have been printed, is the initiative of Backpacker Queensland, supported by Gold Coast City Council, Gold Coast Tourism and Queensland Tourism.
