Hi there,

I was wondering, do you know maybe how to improve ranking on Hostelbookers
We manage a hostel with over 80beds (private and dorm) and we are rated with 89% (160reviews)
I have noticed that there are some properties who are ranked higher than us and they have less beds than we have, lower rating (less reviews as well), higher prices etc. Most of the properties are seasonal so they aren't open through the whole year.

I called Hostelbookers and they told me that ranking by default is mixture of availability, prices, rating etc. When I told them, if they really rank properties by that, we should be somewhere on the top of the page.
Unfortunately, I didn't get any real answer from them.

So I was wondering, does anybody of you know how to improve our ranking (I'm talking about ranking by Hostelbookers deault ranking)?

If you have decent ratings, plenty of reviews, and competitive prices, then the problem could be with availability? Are all 80 of your beds available for sale on HB?

Unfortunately I think HB themselves would be the best ones to help you with this, and they have essentially written off your question. I would contact them again and ask them for more help. Since they said the ranking is a mixture of factors, you might ask them to take a look at your hostel and tell you which area is dragging you down. At least then you would know what to work on.

Thanks for your help.
All 80 beds are available for sale but although we are seasonal hostel (1st May - 1st October), I opened the beds for sale through the whole year, and after 24hours, they put us on the top of the page.
