Rollie-Pollies vs Backpackers

If, let say, all your "rollie-pollies" (those guests who rather use the rolling cases instead of backpacks) would stay in hotels instead, how many people would stay in your hostel?

It can´t be denied that luggage nowadays often looks different than a few years ago.

Are "backpackers" gone for good, like the Hippies? Have there ever been "real" backpackers in Europe? Does it matter?
