Guests at an international hotel chain may sleep more soundly after the introduction of "snore patrols" and "snore absorption rooms" at a number of sites worldwide.
Crowne Plaza is testing the first "snore absorption" rooms at 10 hotels in Europe and the Middle East, whilst six branches in Britain have implemented "snore patrols" this month in a bid to combat noisy sleepers.
"Snore monitors" patrol corridors in the designated quiet zones of Crowne Plaza hotels in the cities of London, Leeds and Manchester. Their job is to listen out for offensive noises and knock on the door of guests who snore too loudly.

Ive considered a snorers room. As a possible snorer, I think I would book it. I have trouble sleeping in dorm rooms these days simply because I fear snoring. Snore absorption is an interesting concept and I imagine if anyone works it out, it just may become essential in hostels.

I wonder how the "snore absorption technology works. I wonder if sound-absorbing walls and fabric (curtain) would mute the sound.
I wonder if the hotels really have working technology. Are the walls so thin that hotels would need it? It could be a PR stunt... :)

I assumed it was a late April fools joke. You can't have people going around banging on doors late at night to stop people snoring, they'd wake more people than the snorer. Besides, they may have to go back to the same room 5 times in a night, pounding on the door to wake them. As far as absorption rooms go, it's just a matter of having the walls thick enough. Carpet on the floor helps too though.
