The spam blocking script is now active. If anyone has difficulty registering or posting, please let me know.
It should only affect new registrations, because it compares the user registration with know spammer information...

Sorry about the spam attacks since the forum upgrade. I'm going to install a spam blocking script but haven't had a chance yet. The spam blocker will be online soon :)

Sorry, another spammer managed to get through today. The good news is that quite a few spammers have been automatically blocked by the new script. If too many spammers still get through, I'll go back to moderated registrations again.

Sorry, there was a huge spam attack today. These were previously-registered spammers so I don't know if the spam script failed. I'll give it one or two more days before I go back to moderating every new user.

Another spammer registered but I banned him before he posted. I've just installed another anti-spam tool that scans every post for new users and stops spam from being submitted. I hope this one works :)
If anyone gets errors while posting, please let me know. The scanner is only supposed to run on new users' posts.

A different spammer managed to post. I don't know why they've suddenly become more aggressive.
I'm still working on the problem... sorry for the ones that are getting though...

Here's an update on the spam battle:
The new plug-in that blocks known spammers from registering is blocking a huge number of spammers. It's still early in the day, and 20 spammers have been blocked today already.
Even if a spammer manages to register, a second plug-in scans new posts for spam and keeps suspicious posts unpublished until I publish them. It's working pretty well and I think it will prevent all future "mobile phone" spam from showing in the forum.
A couple of spammers are probably going to get through occasionally, but I hope it won't be too bad, and I will be deleting the spam as quickly as possible.
