Firstly, Stayokay - their web site says:-
"Stayokay was founded in 1929 as the Nederlandse Jeugdherberg Centrale (NJHC) [Dutch Youth Hostel Association]. In 2003, NJHC was renamed Stayokay. The first NJHC hostel was located in Ouderkerk aan de Amstel in a converted windmill. The NJHC grew rapidly becoming a large organization with almost seventy small buildings throughout the country. Renamed Stayokay, the present-day association now has thirty hostels in the Netherlands. Twenty-six of the thirty hostels are run by Stayokay itself and the remaining four are franchised. Hostels generate turnover to reinvest in their quality, infrastructure and employees."
On Xanascat - their web site says:-
"The Catalan Youth Agency will focus its activity on contributing towards the national and social progress of Catalonia through the promotion of tourism, education, comprehensive development for young people, associations and social welfare, through knowledge of the Catalan territory and, specifically, through its commission to manage the Youth Hostel Network of Catalonia as a public service mission with the following objectives:
I. To produce, develop and offer programmes to be run at the hostels and that facilitate discovery of the territory, history, culture and nature of Catalonia.
II. To encourage young people's participation and emancipation through the creation of programmes for them and, in particular, seasonal stays for minors with recreational and educational components.
III. To provide means of strengthening the Catalan network of non-profit organisations, by offering facilities, spaces and activities suitable for their development.
IV. To produce programmes designed for collectives requiring special public attention, and particularly, for children and teenagers with special physical or mental needs and those affected by migration."
So as they both appear to uphold the HI principles I guess that they must be full members of the International - could be wrong though!
