Tech Tip: How to Subscribe to Websites by Instant Messenger

There's an interesting new service called Notifixio.us that connects websites to instant messenger programs (Yahoo Messenger, Gmail Chat, Jabber, etc.).

Just go Notifixio.us and paste in the URL of a webpage or RSS feed and follow the directions. Notifixio.us will then send an instant message every time your favorite sites are updated.

If you want to subscribe to the forums on this site or just a specific section of the site that way you can go to the home page and click on any of the RSS icons that look like this to get the URLs of the RSS feeds:

It works with any kind of RSS feed -- blogs, Twitter users, news sites (like BBC). It works on this site, but only for public forums. The private forums don't generate RSS feeds.
