There is new technology in the fight against bed bugs. It can alert you if you have an infestation, or assure potential guests that your hostel is bed bug free.
Valpas have created a hotel bed leg that traps bed bugs. More than that, the legs have their own IoT (Internet of Things) mesh network to communicate with each other and with the hotel. When bed bugs are detected and trapped, the hotel will be automatically notified.
But Valpas go even beyond that. They are establishing a website where guests can book hotels comfortably, being assured that there are no bed bugs in the hotel they have chosen. Basically, they are trying to create a Bed Bug Free OTA.
They are also considering the option of selling their alerts as a form of 3rd party confirmation that could be used on other OTAs to guarante that a particular property is safe.

It's a creative idea. What do you think? Would you buy a system that sends an alert to your phone if there were a bed bug infestation in your hostel?
