Anyone know why the Waterfall hostel has closed? It really is one of the most amazing hostels anywhere, they have a soccer pitch, frisbee golf course, cricket pitch, etc. and really cool waterfalls. Their website says it's closed???

i was supposed to stay there last night - good thing i checked their site because only a couple of days earlier there was no mention of closing.
did it hammer down with rain in david recently? being next to a river like that could cause some serious water damage if it flooded...
oh and to answer your question, no. no idea.

I've never heard of it, but it sounds great.

Joey and his partners closed it after it was sold a few months ago, it was a unique place and it is a shame that it is not open, Joey had a great vision to bring in live music events, frisbee golf, swimming and relaxed vibes, we were referring each other business and it worked well..
but bambu hostel is thriving our deluxe tropical garden and awesome in ground pool make it the best place to relax hands down in david panama..

We also lament the loss of this great Backpacker Hostel and we too worked hand in hand with them to send them guests and recommend them, especially for campers and people who wanted to sleep in their vehicle, travellers with pets etc. What a great place and what great work they were doing. As Mike mentioned a few years ago, there are other options in David (we have been here all along), and The Purple House Int'l Backpackers Hostel is the first hostel to have ever opened in David City (way back in 2002) and the 2nd in the entire country. We have dorm rooms, private rooms, great convenient location, clean, secure, all at excellent low prices. We also have a refreshing "SPLASH PAD" out back to help you all deal with this hot David City weather. Hope to see you soon and let's hope that someday the Waterfall Hostel will return to it's former glory!
