Does anyone know if StudentUniverse.com is a hostel booking site? I think they mostly list hotels. Do they use their own booking system, or partner with a hotel booking engine?

StudentUniverse Buys Hostel Booking App WeHostels to Improve on Mobile
StudentUniverse announced its acquisition of hostel booking app WeHostels today.
The student travel giant plans to keep WeHostels running as a separate app and brand, but will use the mobile acumen of the WeHostels team to improve its own mobile products, WeHostels co-founder and CEO Diego Saez-Gil tells Skift.
Although the terms of the deal have not been disclosed, Saez-Gil says it included combination of cash and stock and that “investors are walking away very happy.”
The WeHostels team will all stay on board, taking responsibility for improving StudentUniverse’s mobile strategy with a focus on the ability to book flights.

I never publish on that website and my hostel is listed. Because o the price i am quite sure is expedia

StudentUniverse is a general travel site for students. They don't have their own booking system, partnering with other booking sites instead to provide availability and rates. The WeHostels app currently gets its rates and availability from HW, so they will not be bringing a booking system with them to StudentUniverse.

I checked my hostel too. The price quoted for mine was provided by Hostelbookers. I think they may pull rates and info from several booking sites.

Student Universe had been partnering with hostelbookers for its hostel availabilities - interestingly when booking accommodation it lets you select 'dorms' or 'privates' rather than 'hostels' or 'hotels'. by swallowing up wehostels, i'm guessing they'll have both sites availabilities on the site.

Following the purchase, founder Diego Saez-Gil posted an article called 10 lessons I learned from building a travel startup in which he looks back on the things he wishes he had known at the beginning. A good read for any entrepreneur.
- Warning: The odds may not be with you
- Ain’t no dough in “inspiration”
- Consider the un-sexy
- Build something truly new — or ten times better
- Know your “why now?”
- Go for big markets; but don’t try to boil the ocean
- Emerging markets have plenty of opportunities; but come with big challenges
- Unit economics are the name of the game
- Investors and industry veterans are jaded. Don’t let them discourage you; but listen carefully!
