What are a few things that you think would benefit the hostel industry?
("5" is just a rough number)Examples:
- diversity of hostel booking engines? (would that be a good thing, or would that make things worse by making things too complex?)
- hotels going into hostel business? (would that be good for publicity and awareness of hostels, or bad overall?)
- more big city hostels and chains? (would it be good for smaller hostels too by bringing more backpackers into the country?)
- more cooperation between hostels?
- more promotion of hostels by government tourism agencies?
I'm not arguing that any of the above are good or bad -- just randomly listing some possible topics.
Maybe it is time to have a trade association like the Travel, Restaurant and Hotel segments of the Hospitalty industry. Europe Has a Hostel managers association already, maybe one could be started in North America, does anyone think this is feasible? The B&B`s have an association as well as the Innkeepers, it sounds like a natural progression if you ask me.
