I am organizing the next European Hostel Conference in Dresden, which will take place on March 28th/29th. We already start thinking about possible workshops and topics to talk about.
At the moment we have some rough ideas, which are
power of web communities
SEO
Pest Control
green hostels, responsible tourism
staff management
What impact will high oil prices have for hostels
and a couple of more ideas, which don't have a real name yet. We also plan to use one room rather as an interactive exchange of hostels owners (best practice) then for workshops where people hold monologues.
Does anyone has ideas, advice, wishes, proposals for topics or workshops to talk about with other hostel owners?

It would be nice to talk about revenue expansion with additional services such as travel agency, tour bookings and ticket service... according to the new needs of flashpackers. Also a detailed demonstration about Hostelpower...

Hi there,
I will definitely assist to the Euro Hostel Meeting in Dresden next Year, that kind of meetings are the best way to know hostel people and exchange some ideas as well as getting new contacts.
What I would like to mention as an additional idea:
The Power of Blogs and how to use them as a great marketing tool for the hostels. Other industries are using this option already, so why not discuss about this?
Being in Dresden the next Year I will blog "live" from there. I hope to find many people who is able to discover the great advantages a blog can make for the hostel world :)

I'm the current owner of HostelPower and I saw that last year there was a little interest in having a HP demonstration. If there is demand for this again, I'd be happy to come and demonstrate it and listen to feedback. I am really hoping to address customer concerns regarding HostelPower now that HostelsClub no longer has it (they didn't build on it or support it very well).
In the meantime, there will be a "revamped" HostelPower, with some slight changes, and a different pricing structure (much lower). More details coming soon.....
