Does anyone know where to find plans for building sturdy wooden bunk beds?

I've seen one or two hostels where the owner has built his bunk beds. One of the most impressive is Iona. Go and take a look.:)
(Of course, Iona hostel is one of the remotest places to get to, probably involving a plane, 2 trains, a ferry, a 3-hour bus, a short ferry and a 2 km walk, but it's so beautiful...:D )

Do you know them by any chance? It looks like their website just went offline within the past week.

Iona Hostel: I dropped by to look in once, about 6 years ago. The owner was an enthusiastic person, but I don't know him apart from that visit. I'm sad to see that the website is not operating. I have emailed a contact in Scotland who might know more.
I have often seen him advertising for summer staff. I always thought that it would be a good place for an enthusiast to start. When someone phones, he picks up the phone and says........;)

Wood bad. Metal good. Want to attract bed bugs, build wooden beds. Even if you think you've sealed every crack, they'll find one. Always fun to hunt those miserable buggers down!
For what it could cost in labor and materials, it might be cheaper to buy metal ones.
While on that subject, does anyone know a good bunk bed supplier for beds with curtains?

I wonder if you could just put up curtain racks on existing bunks.
Curtains are a great idea for hostel bunk beds. Many hostels in Japan and Taiwan have them...

These are EXACTLY what I was looking for! And I thought I was going to have to cut the window holes myself. Billiant, just brilliant.
In all honesty, it would be fun to put those in one small room just to see people's reactions. I'll bet they would love them. Of course you would also need a tiny little table in the room for tea parties.

Well those go WAAAY beyond my expectations. Now the guests can have all the sex they want in their teeny tiny homes!
I can't wait to send this suggestion to my boss! good thing he has a sense of humor! :eek:
