I also tried fried frog (they also cook it coconut milk), broiled grasshopper and the Abal-abal a philippine bettle cooked in adobo. :D
During my stay in the Philippines I have tried the "balut". There's a fertilized duck or chicken egg (embryo) inside, boiled and eaten in the shell. Popularly believed to be an aphrodisiac and considered a high-protein hearty snack.
Off the light when eating it the first time.

I boiled some grasshoppers in the US -- they didn't have much taste.
On my trip to Japan and Taiwan last winter I ate duck tongue, chicken feet, pig intestine soup... I skipped the raw goat testicles in soy sauce though :D

I know that octopus isn't really all that strange in most of the world, but it seemed exotic and bizarre to me the first time I ate it. Now I'm a big fan.

Wow, fascinating to read Westerners describing Philippine balut here...
Hi balut is very delicious and one of the favorites of people in the Philippines... everywhere in the streets, there are balut vendors who walk and shout "balut, balut, balut". It's reputed to be aphrodisiac... honestly, I haven't yet dare try it yet... some people have not tried, but I hear it's super delicious. will try this week, hahaha!
In Xiamen City of Fujian province, south China, I was surprised to be once served delicious soup in a streetside resto, it was ordered by a local Chinese, and I was surprised that those were cow testicles!!! the guy also claimed those are aphrodisiacs!
