Hostels (in Travel Talk forum)]All of those sound interesting, especially Albania... I like Balkan music a lot -- my blip.fm profile has a lot of Balkan music on it.

Some interesting music there in your blip. (I havent come across this format before, but then I havent ever downloaded music, just occasionally listened to snippets).

Your choices are not entirely my taste, I prefer the livelier dance music, complete with its 11/16 etc rhythms! I have a great disc of Slovenian singing-dance songs. I was also given, in Slovenia, two discs of Slovenian accordion music, which is probably more mainstream: every song is in waltz time, and it is identical to Bavarian music except for the language!

You live in New England; have you come across Northern Harmony / Village Harmony? They are choirs based in Vermont, who do Macedonian, Georgian, Shape Note, American spiritual, and more.

We have a Bosnian choir visiting Shrewsbury in the 3rd week of May.

I haven't heard of that group, but I think there are many similar ones in New England. Actually, the New England Folk Festival is coming up in ~10 days. I might head over there to see some of the Balkan bands...

That's much closer, though I haven't heard it like that before, it sounds rather jazzy. What are the instruments, are they traditional or is this a modern treatment?
