Is it worth it?
I don't have the skills or the stupidity to take this on myself. Therefore, I will have to hire pros to make a bathroom for me.How much money might I be looking at? Have any of you "built" a bathroom before in your hostels?
Is moving the plumbing around a huge burden when renovating?
It would be very unwise to do it on your own. You can make some calculations on the material such as tiling, number of showers, toilets, sinks, mirrors, etc. Then get few quotes from tilers, plumbers and masons. Pick not the cheapest but the one you can trust and contract for a deadline and penalty payments for delays. Make sure they won't save on materials and complain if something's wrong.
About the burden, once we had to remove a wall and make a new one just one meter away. The estimate was about 1,000$. It ended up 4k. No one saw that there was a difference in level between the two rooms and yes, it took about two tons of concrete to fill it up!
I wouldn't believe that you could be unfortunate but even construction companies calculate with a 1,5-2,5 multiplier. The problem is that no one knows what's behind the wallpaper!
