Hostelsclub updates booking engine with new search features
In a recent press release, Hostelsclub writes about their site's new search functionality:
http://www.pr.com/press-release/166035
HostelsClub, a leading international booking site for low-cost accommodation, is happy to announce the launch of its new booking interface. It is now even easier than ever before for budget travellers to find their ideal lodging.
The upgraded HostelsClub site now also faster with the new search functions. The new functionalities begin with a highly advanced interactive map display which gives a birds-eye view of all the properties in that city with flagged points of interest. For example, clients can now select their preferred hostel in Rome based on how close it is to the Colosseum or the Vatican.
Try it out here:

E.g., search for "london" and adjust the size of the range circle by dragging the arrows -- which I circled in red in the attached screenshot.

I'll need to find out more about this before thinking about signing or not a petition

I am happy to answer any questions regarding this conflict, and of course you may contact HostelsClub to see what they have to say about the issue.
If you didn't see the link on the boycott page, a summary of the story can be found at http://www.hostelsclubfail.com
Also, if you are one of the hostels that received a free license for HostelPower during September 2008 - September 2009, I would like to hear from you. Please send me an email at .
Best Regards,
Kevin

I'm sure that Hostelsclub will only have positive things to say in their favour!

I'm sure that Hostelsclub will only have positive things to say in their favour!
I know they will! However, these facts are indisputable:
- HostelsClub gave out free licenses to the HostelPower software and advertised HostelPower in their own marketing materials, and represented HostelPower support after September 2008 (see http://www.hostelsware.com for an example of their marketing of the HostelPower software)
- HostelsClub never paid for a license to do so
I'd be surprised if they deny either of the above points, as there is, like I said, indisputable evidence.
Again, I'm happy to answer questions about the matter and take advice, and legal action is currently being pursued.

Hello Kevin,
i am very impressed (not in a positive way) by the way you are using this forum to attac your former business partner. And not only in this one thread but everywhere you can find any posts of hostelsclub. I know this as crossposting, which is a very bad and unwanted manner in all the forums i know. To me this looks like the perfect loose-loose strategy, because nobody wil take any profit from this mudfight.
Are you so sure about yourself to be able to say "I did nothing wrong!", and fingerpointing: "The other one is the guilty one!" He?

Hello Peter,
I understand your point. However, what HC is doing is so completely wrong that I feel if my post even stops only 1 person from signing a contract and doing business with them, then I am helping and my post was justified.
The following 2 points are indisputable:
- HostelsClub has been giving out free licenses for the HostelPower software since last September (2008).
- HostelsClub never paid for a license to do so.
As far as I know this is not a mudfight yet as they have not responded to my allegations and have not defended themselves. I am curious to see their response, but like you say - yes, I am completely sure of my side in this case, completely sure that they are way out of line, and completely sure that their actions have been illegal. If I had read a post like mine before talking to them about HostelPower, I never would have signed a contract with them and it would have saved me a lot of headache and pain.
So yes, I understand and agree that it is crossposting and frowned upon, however I feel that it is necessary in this case. Hopefully people that don't care will just skip the post without reading it.
And sorry - last thing - they were and have never been a "business partner" of HostelPower - they were a buyer, plain and simple, that basically shoplifted and ran out of the store without paying.
Cheers,
Kevin

Should be getting legal counsel and at least get a warning letter to Hostelworld. Expensive but that is the price of business.

Who should get legal councel?
And who should "get" a warning letter?
Do you mean "send" a letter?
And why sending to hostelworld?
What the hell has hostelworld to do with this?
You are writing plain miracles, impossible for me to get any point about what you want to express.
