CITY planners have given the green light to multi-million euro plans to construct a tourist hostel geared to young backpackers, the Limerick Leader can reveal.

The project, worth an estimated €2m, will see the former Globe lapdancing club in Cecil Street transformed into a four floor, 85 bed hostel.

...The hostel could welcome its first guests in under 12 months time, with rooms costing between €15 and €20 per night. Limerick has been without a tourist hostel since An Oige in Perry Square closed its doors five years ago.
