Thanks for this wonderful forum.
I´m so glad to see how the business has grown to be a big market and I have come across so many clever hostel concept ideas. Especially with the interior design part of it.
I was wondering if you could point out what you think is a clever or smart or supercool interior or awesome in some way, use of colors, multi functual design or smart way to make the most out of little spaces.

Search the site for "boutique hostels" and then check out photos -- that might give some ideas. Especially the top Lisbon hostels...

this is a good way for people who are new in the business like me to get reasonable ideas.

Hostel Celica in Ljubljana, Slovenia has a really cool design. It s an old prison of which. 20 former cells have been transformed into 20 rooms. and each individual room design has been done by a different artist. I didn`t got to see them all. But the once I saw were awesome.
But I do not think that a super cool modern design works every time. At the moment I`m managing a small hostel. We re not really modern (we still heating the hostel with a coal boiler) and most of the furniture has been here for about 10 years. But its all very comfortable and creates a very warm, cosy and homey atmosfeer. All our guest are always very happy about how at home they feel and usually stay an extra day just to chill.
I`m not sure witch one is more popular: The clean, cool and modern hostel or old fashion, no nonsense and feel at home hostel.

We always get a lot of comments about the City Hostel in Seattle. It's worth checking them out. They are doing a great job and are an industry leader in the USA in a very short time.
