FTC Guidelines for Bloggers: Endorsements and Sponsorship
No Fines Levied in FTC’s First Blogger-Advertiser Investigation
http://mashable.com/2010/04/30/ann-taylor-ftc-investigation/
The US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has new rules about how bloggers have to disclose any free stuff or sponsorship that they receive from companies:
...bloggers must disclose “any material connections they share with the seller of the product or service” when writing about it. Bloggers and brands can be fined up to $11,000 for failing to reveal sponsorships, although the FTC has since emphasized that it’s more concerned about the behavior of brands and advertisers than with individual bloggers.
Is not common for hostel companies to sponsor bloggers, but it's something that I think will increase. It's worth downloading the FTC rules for US bloggers/companies doing these kinds of sponsorship agreements.
