Hi all,
My name is backpack :) I just got back from 15 months backpack trip throughout South America. Planning to go back in about 6 weeks to SA. My idea is to start up a hostel. (budget is up 40 k euro). After 15 months of travelling i d say my fave countries were Colombia and Brasil. Really thinking of setting something up in Brasil, maybe somewhere in SP or RIo, or some beachtown close to those places. Also Salvador could be an option. I Also thought of Salta, Argentina. I guess as a country i prefer Brasil but somehow i think its harder over there, more bureaucracy, maybe more competition and a bit more expensive.
Anyone knows how dificult it is to obtain all the required papers in Brasil/Argentina?
Anyone anything decent to say about location and such, Brasil or Argentina, or a different suggestion, which would be a good place you think?
Anyone intersted here in partnership? Someone with good plans and ideas ?
I am pretty fluent in spanish and my portugues is ok
any advice is welcome!

I don't have an answer to your question about papers, but I liked the Salta/Cafayate region a lot. I haven't been to Brazil yet. It wasn't the town of Salta that I liked as much as the surrounding area (photo below). Jujuy province also seemed to have a lot of backpackers coming through from Bolivia, but fewer hostels than Salta. I would jump at the chance to go back to that area...
