It depends on which city/region of Colombia you are planning on opening a hostel.
I've opened mine one year ago, but I realize the city makes really differencies.

Any knowledge on a cost it takes to start a hostel in Colombia?
Start a Hostel
It's a broad question with so many variables. But I was hoping I could get some sort of figure. I plan to rent out a building. ( don't worry it is in a town without any hostels, so no need to worry about competition)
it would be a small hostel 20-30 beds. Let's say the rent is $1000-$1500.
Can anyone with any expirence or knowledge give me any sort of estimate it would cost to start from the ground up with this kind of project?

quite a broad question, I started mine 6 years ago with almost nothing, good thing is that we owned the property, all furniture we got second hand from friends and family, we bought cheap beds, foam matreses and once we had money started to change all the stuff we had for nicer more quality stuff.
it basically translates on how much stuff you are willing to do yourself.
