Taiwan was on my top 5 travel destination wishlist, and I finally made it.
Taiwan is a great place to visit. The people are the friendliest that I've met anywhere. Hostel dorm beds range from NT$300 to NT$450 (NT$30 ~= US$1) so it's generally much cheaper than the US or Europe.

Taiwan has a very interesting selection of foods (which I'll post about later)... in the meantime, here is a photo of an interesting drink that can be found in every convenience store -- asparagus juice:
Surprisingly, it's a very sweet drink, but has the flavor of asparagus.
