I like the idea! :)
Have you found any information more about it? I've never been to Paris...
I've been kicking around the idea of opening a floating hostel, on a boat or barge-type platform, for some time now. My ideal city locale is Paris, with the hostel-drought the city seems to be experiencing! The idea is mostly still in the ether - I'm an American, and haven't gotten the guts to quit my job just yet.
What types of hurdles do you think I'd have to overcome to see this project through? Parisian regulations on hostels? Possible dock space on the Seine? Specific insurance? The hostel wouldn't move, it would be permanently tied off.
Waste would be an issue, I'm guessing. I would need some kind of hard-line to the sewer system, I'm assuming.
Does anyone have any first-hand advice? I know there are a few hostels like this scattered around; two in Stockholm, one in Krakow, two in Berlin, and one in Belgrade.
Any advice or comments are welcome!!!

there is a post here "what's wrong with Paris". tells a lot about regulations (closed staircases, 24 hour on-duty, etc) for hostels. i would think a chemical toilet like airplanes use (and Russian trains) that don't flush OUT, but have a strong suction flush with chemical wash. i have no idea about cost on this system, though... hard plumbing may be cheaper!! we has such a floating hotel in Russia years ago when Yeltsyn was in power. no laws...
