Awesome picture. Making mental note to plan fact-finding mission. If I´ll like what I´ll see expect "La Casa Nostra" to open somewhere on Hawaii between 2025 and 2030. Suggestions for a better name and reservations taken through private messenging. :)

im thinking somewhere like costa rica. jungles, beaches... a few cabins on the beach, another for a kitchen w/ bbq, another as a little bottle bar/shop, reception consists of a money belt and laptop...
bugger an escape plan, thats where im headed ASAP!

Latin America has some great cheesy music meeting my German taste, but on the other hand, as a German, I am terribly narrow-minded when it comes to things like trains running in time or not. Or plumbers who do proper plumbing. Or cops not screwing you.
I have spent a year in South America. I am sure most countries there would drive me crazy in the long run. Chile would be an exception maybe.

What do you prefer about Chile?
Chile may be less exciting than Argentina and Brazil, or less exotic than Bolivia and Peru, but it´s very obvious (I have spent three months there) that there is a government which can actually do stuff and that people have the common sense that it´s clever to have a common sense.
The police doesn´t screw you just because you´re a gringo and can afford a bribe, there is a good public transport system and even public housing in Santiago. A lot of things you´ll never see anywhere in Brazil. If you forced me to live anywhere in South America, I´d chose Santiago de Chile.

I was asking because I've thought about going to Argentina and Brazil, but didn't consider Chile before...

I think Argentina has more to offer if you´re a tourist, but Chile is certainly the better choice if you actually want to live in South America.
Don´t miss Patagonia. Chile´s Torres Del Paine national park was THE highlight of my first trip - and I´m not a big hiker.

The kama'aina (native) Hawaiians are very sensitive to development on the Windward side, they want to keep things traditional there. So the first thing you need to do is to give it a name in Hawaiian. I happen to have a Hawaiian dictionary, and I looked up "our". There are 16 different words or word pairs for "our". So go over there and talk to the Hawaiians about how your project is in tune with the 'aina' (land), and you'll maybe get somewhere!
