Budgettravel.com just posted an article about World's Prettiest Castle Towns.

Here is their list:

  • Jaisalmer, India
  • Rhodes, Greece
  • Naganeupseong, South Korea
  • Segovia, Spain
  • Louisbourg, Canada
  • Matsumoto, Japan
  • Rothenburg ob der Tauber in Bavaria
  • Sintra, Portugal
  • Palmanova, Italy
  • Carcassonne, France

Of those, I've only been to Rhodes, which is spectacular.

Does anyone know other great castle towns?

Correction: The prettiest castle towns that the author has visited.

He has clearly never been to Britain. We've got loads.

I vote for Richmond, Yorkshire, England.

Seconded by Ludlow, Shropshire, England.

I must declare an interest: I grew up in Richmond, and I now live near Ludlow. :)
