Frequent replacement is essential... Also different mops for different areas. We replace the mopheads for the bathrooms more often, because of the hair which has been collected as well. It is not nice of you use the same mop in the kitchen later on, regardless how many times you use it.

Yeah, all this comes down to is changing the mop head on a regular basis. It can be very difficult to get a trade worker to take responsibilty for this, so it must be delegated to a proper employee who will take ownership of the task. Do not buy more than two; 1 is on the mop stick. The 2nd in bleach water, swap as needed. Do not forget to thoroughly rinse the bleached mop head in the mop sink before useing soapy water as this can causs a chemical reaction with some cleaners. Change mop water daily.

We do not use mops here in Argentina. It´´s something not really common.
The best thing to do is to take it to the laundry and use lots of "Clorox". Then hang it to the sun...white as new, fresh as new.
We use these yellow sort of cloths...Don´t know the term in english...And I replace them every month...they are like 4 pesos and we use 4...its not a big deal of money and it looks neat.

Is that the cloth that gets pushed around with a floor squeegee? I don't know if we have a word for those in English. What are they called in Spanish?

THey are called "trapo de piso" and yes we handle them with a "squeegee" (which I had no idea of the name of it). The brand is "ballerina".

Dead simple way is just to throw the mop head in to the washing machine once a week and in the mean time wash it properly after cleaning each room.

NEVER MIX AN AMMONIATED CLEANER WITH A BLEACH-BASED CLEANER
Just a little thing you learn in chem. Mixing ammoniated products (Windex, Lemon Ammonia, Mr. Clean Magic Erasers) with bleach products (Clorox bleach, Clorox Wipes, Lysol) will undergo an oxidation-reduction reaction and oxidize Chloride ions into Chlorine gas which is quite toxic.
Here's the reaction: 2NaOCl + 2NH3 --> 2NaONH3 + Cl2
(NaOCl is bleach, NH3 is ammonia)

Definitely good to know. I read a story about it killing some people who were cleaning with that mixture.
It happens all the time... people will wash a stain/mark with something, then when that doesn't work they'll try a different cleaning agent. The big problem is, there are remnants of the first agent left on the surface that can and will react with the next agent.
