Well, every hostels should have modern equipment and digital access to technology including internet connection, wifi and printing facility to make every service serves at utmost efficiency.
We have some issues with couple of guests that were really offended with charging late check out or luggage storage for extra day. I genuinely think that if the hostel is full and expects new guests, its mandatory to charge later check outs as its much more difficult to work with new guests and to cater old ones at the same time. Our late check out means that guests can use everything in the hostel after they check out, from computers, kitchen to take extra shower if they want so in that terms i think that charging for extra service is not offensive.
The same with printing airplane tickets and laundry, espacialy for hostels in cities where there is no internet corners for printing tickets, and charging 1eur instead of paying 10eur at the airport its a bargain.
What do you think about this?

Just make it perfectly clear what you charge for and how much. I don't mind paying few bucks for late check out or baggage storage but this shouldn't be served as surprise.

We don't charge for late checkouts, but we also don't allow late checkouts either. Makes life simple!
We charge $0.30 per page for printing, which is pretty standard for Perth, and I don't think it's unfair to charge for this since it uses paper and ink - the costs for this can mount up pretty quickly if you don't charge for it.
Our luggage storage is free and our guests can continue to use our facilities on the day of checkout until they leave - I think you can get a bad rep for being stingy if you kick people out the door as soon as they checkout.
Laundry we charge for, this is just coin operated. We also sell small bags of laundry powder from behind reception.
I think as long as you're upfront and open about your charges, usually people don't mind, it's when they get hit with unexpected charges that they get pissed off. For example, if a guest came down to check out late and you hit them with the charge with no prior warning, it's kind of reasonable that they would be annoyed.
