China is building a replica of an idyllic Austrian alpine village in a rundown industrial estate in the Guandong province.
The village will be a £5.7billion carbon copy of Hallstatt, a UNESCO World Heritage site, complete with artificial lake.
"China already has created Chengdu British Town, near Shanghai modelled on Dorchester."

When I was on the train coming out of Shanghai last year, we went passed an area that did look distinctly British, definitely an odd and unexpected thing to behold. Local tourism is rising in China so I'm guessing that's what they're accomodating for, fair play to them.

I was at Chengdu last week staying at the very comfy and staff friendly/helpful Traffic Inn. (hostel).
Chengdu is still not British Town yet...
