I think it depends where you are located.
VIP are strong and doing good business in Aus and NZ. Here in Europe I don't think they are worth the time. Not too sure about the Americas or Asia.

Does anyone here give the VIP discount? Are the additional bookings worth the amount of hassle to have one more site to monitor in terms of bed allocations and rates?

I agree with Plakian.
VIP used to have a good business in Europe a few years ago. But now you might get one or two bookings a year.
Unfortunately it's not worth it.
