Hi Everyone,
My name is Jeffrey Manheimer from Tripping.com. I just introduced myself here yesterday http://www.hostelmanagement.com/forums/greetings-from-trippingcom-nyc.html.
I wanted to post a quick mention about 2 ways we are currently helping individual hostel chains and hostel booking sites enhance the community experience at the property level and during the booking process.
The first way is our network platform: https://www.tripping.com/networks . In short, we build micro-communities for hostel chains to encourage more interaction among guests at the property level and also to create a sense of community during the stay for individual hostel goers. Imagine taking a trip to New York City as a solo traveler and staying at a hostel by yourself. It can be difficult to meet new people right off the bat and our hostel networks encourage people to start interacting before they even arrive. By logging on to Tripping and joining a network (for example, https://www.tripping.com/network/hostelling-international-new-york/info), hostel goers can connect with other travelers before, during and after their stay. It is a great way for travelers to stay connected while on property and also creates memorable experiences for the guests.
The second way is on the technological side of things. We have created a feed (see attachment) that allows hostels to serve up locals in their respective towns or cities. Tripping.com connects travelers with locals and a big part of traveling are the local people. Imagine booking your hostel bed and then in your reservation confirmation (or email), you are sent a list of locals that live in the area you are traveling to. Those locals would be local ambassadors that would gladly take a hostel goer out for drinks, coffee or even act as a local tour guide to help provide that authentic, travel experience.
If anyone is interested in learning more, please do not hesitate to contact me directly!
Cheers,
Jeff Manheimer
