A European capital city without a hostel?
Yes there is one. Podgorica in Montenegro.
The cheapest bed I found near the centre was in a hotel, the price on HW was 68 Euro. I turned up without a booking and they only charged me 55 Euro.
Podgorica is a good place to start a hostel in my opinion.
a. A very beautiful small country highly rated by Lonely Planet.
b. At a crossroads for travelers, easy transport links to all southern Balkan states.
c. One of the cheapest Balkan countries.
Go for it someone.

I agree 100%. The Croatian coast is pretty overhyped already, Montenegro is supposed to be one of the "secrets" now.
Brilliant opportunity.

theres a reason.
montenegro is amazing - kotor(fjord, caslte) and budva(beach) on the coast, some spectacular mountains (even some skiing i think). but podgorica? its got a bridge. thats about it.
ok, im sure it has more than that - i got stuck there when the day they voted to separate from serbia - but its really just a transit hub from what i could tell.

Its more worthy to make more search and to try to find some thing cheaper or may be to use the THORN TREE LONELY PLANET FORUM and ask some travellers or locals about budget accommodation in that area.
There are a lot of properties which are not registered at hostelworld which I am sure - much more cheaper than that property listed on hostelworld.

anyone informed about locals attitude? friendly, or protective, easy to deal with, or trying to rip off foreign investors? it's not easy to set up in eastern europe!
