I am so happy to join you in here!
Here is my thing,recently I found a partner who is considering to cooperate with me to open a hostel, I am so exited for this, since lack of enough money I can not start this business by myself. So I plan to learn and do as much things as I can to show my partner that I am a good partner in this business.
In the middle of this month, both we will fly to the destination city do some market research and hopefully can figure out some suitable location for being hostel.
Although I did a lot homework before, but since I am a green hand in this line, I am still not so confident about what I got in mind. I think I need a help in my first step - how to choose a location for hostel? Please kindly tell me if what I say below need to correct or there are more I need to add,thank you very much in advance!
The city we chose to open a hostel is a beach city also a popular tour city,there are a lot of local hostels and only 1 YHA brand hostel, and through my survey,business in local hostels is good, some new local hostels enlarged their business rapidly in 2 years,and the YHA brand hostel is also very good! Our main customers are foreign backpackers and some part of domestic self-help travellers. And most of the travellers go to the city for the beautiful beach.
So here are the main aspects I think we need to pay attention:
1. Near the popular beach area.
2. Good public communication. Easily to find out. Near train station,airport and the better near a bus station.
3. Near the entertainment area, there are bars and restaurants around.
4. From there easy to get to the city attractions.
Opening a youth hostel is my dream, and it is good if I can catch this opportunity then I can touch my dream. So,I would like to keep updating this thread for the process about my progress, I hope to make some friends in here and also wish can get some good idea and advice from you kind guys! :)

Did you get a chance to visit the destination city and do the research?

In terms of proximity to transportation, I'd rank airport the lowest and focus more on local public transportation (unless the popular beach area is close to the airport? But I find in most cases, airports aren't close to anything interesting in a city).
