Google Trends is a service that shows how popular keywords are:

Here is a search for hostels compared with youth hostels:

Unfortunately the keyword hostels also includes searches for homeless shelters... but the results look odd.

Here is the geographic information. It looks like queries from Ireland vastly outnumber searches from other regions. Also Finnish, Danish, Swedish, and Dutch seem to be more common than they should be.

and Finnish is just about as popular as English when searching for hostels:
