Hey Hostel or opening a hostel on a budget
Hello everybody! This is Livia (or Shinju) from Hey Hostel, a hostel that does not exist YET, but will in the next few months...
Well, I don't know even where to start from... We've had the idea of opening a hostel in a small touristic town in Transylvania for a few months now, but only now we decided to act. We did some research and we found out that there is “space” for another hostel there. What to do then? We already have the expericence of a hostel (my boyfriend’s sister has a hostel too and we are there almost all day long, helping out as much as we can ), so we know where to start from and what having a hostel means.
We decided on a name (Hey Hostel) rather quickly and thought it was easy to read and remember, rather “international” and didn’t restrict us on having a theme to stick to when it came to decorating or anything similar.
Then… what about the location? Momentarily this is our main problem. We almost rented a house in a great location, but since the house was too old in invest money in, we decided to give it up and look for another one. I am really hopeful, although my heart is the size of a walnut, fearing we won’t find a suitable location (or an affordable one).
We want a 3-4 bedroom house, kitchen, bathroom, you know, all that, but we also want a garden and a basement to have the fun area there, away from the bedrooms. We don’t want a big hostel (not more than 20-24 beds), so 3 bedrooms sound just fine.
Oh, did I mention that we want to spend as less money as possible, and that may actually be possible since the prices in Romania are not so high? We hope our rent won’t exceed 300 euros and also hope to spend no more than 5000 euros with investing in all we need for the hostel.
We will regullarily write here about our progress and we will share our ideas with you and maybe you will come up with useful advice for us!
